With Mohammad Shami ruled out, and Shardul Thakur struggling for form, Sen was handed the ODI cap in Dhaka. The 26-year-old has starred in the domestic circuit and in the IPL.
Kuldeep hails from Hariharpur in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district. His father Rampal Sen runs a small HAIR SALON in the city. Few of the local papers have reported that Kuldeep’s father stayed back at the SALON to watch his son making a debut in IPL.
IND BAN 1st ODI: The rise of Kuldeep Sen
- Kuldeep was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 20 lakh this IPL.
- Kuldeep was initially spotted by local coaches.
- Kuldeep is third among five children (eldest among three brothers) of Ram Pal Sen and Geeta Sen.
- Kuldeep started playing cricket at the Vindhya Cricket Academy (VCA) club around a decade back. Even the academy he played for waived his fees so that he could pursue his dreams.
- He broke into the Madhya Pradesh Ranji Trophy team in 2018
- In his debut season, he had scalped five wickets in an innings against Punjab and ended the season with 25 wickets.
- He is known to bowl a good outswinger. He can be effective with the bat as well and has the firepower to hit sixes.
- He regularly bowls at 135-140 kph. He has the unusual knack of surprising even the best batsmen. His killer in-swing and out-swingers and the menacing in-cutters can pose problems for the best.
