Barring Mustafizur Rahman last season, no Bangladesh cricketers played in the IPL. Lucknow Super Giants tried to sign Taskin Ahmed as a Mark Wood replacement. However, with BCB no allowing NOC, it did not materialise.
While NOC could still be a problem, the three-match ODI and two-match Test series will help BCB bridge the gap. Hence, if picked up, all Bangladeshi players can eventually play in IPL.
For Shakib, who is the superstar of Bangladesh cricket, he was an integral part of Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he was let go before the mega auction and did not find any suitor last season.

Litton Das who is leading the ODI side in Tamim Iqbal’s absence would be eager to perform well. He had almost pulled off a heist in the T20 World Cup against India. But rain ultimately played spoilsport. But his 27-ball 60 is still fresh in the IPL scouts’ minds and could attract some bids.
For Taskin Ahmed, the Bangladeshi pacer has regained his pace and form after struggles with injuries. He is now one of the best bowlers in the subcontinent. He can not only bowl in excess of 140kph but can bat too. While he will miss the first ODI with an injury, he will be back for the 2nd and 3rd ODI besides the two-match Test series. He will have plenty of time to impress.
India captain Rohit Sharma also had encouraging words for the Bangladeshi stars.
“Hopefully, they will get a chance in IPL. They are good cricketers. If given opportunity, I am sure they will do well. Don’t think IPL teams have started preparing for auction. But I believe they should get an opportunity,” Rohit Sharma said in the pre-match press conference.
