Medvdedev entered the final after going past Oscar Otte in straight sets in the semifinals on Saturday. Meanwhile, Hurkacz won a tough battle against Nick Kyrgios in the semis after losing the first set and winning the next two sets in tie-breaker.

- Daniil Medvedev who won’t play in the Wimbledon this year, started the Grass Court season this year at the Libema Open last week.
- He entered the final after a dominant performance and was unable to cross the final hurdle as he was defeated in straight sets by wildcard entrant Tim van Rijthoven.
- With the loss, his wait for the elusive title this year has continued. Medvedev started the year with a runners-up finish at the Australian Open.
- He then featured only in three other tournaments, which were Mexican Open, Indian Wells Maters and Miami Open.
- He then suffered an injury and missed majority of the clay court season. He recovered just before the French Open and made his return at Geneva Open, where he was ousted from the first round.
- He however got back to form quickly at Romand Garros, but unexpectedly he faced a loss in straight sets against Marin Cilic.

- Meanwhile, fifth seed Hurkacz has made a good comeback in the Grass Court season, after his first round exit at Stuttgart Open last week, where he was stunned by Marton Fucsovics.
- At Halle Open, Hurkasz has defeated opponents like Maxime Cressy, fourth seed Felix Auger Aliassime and Nick Kyrgios.
- Hurkacz started the season with second round exit at Australian Open as well as ATP Rotterdam event.
- His best performance is reaching the semifinals at Dubai Tennis Championships and Miami Open.
- He started clay court season with a quarterfinal appearance at Monte Carlo Masters. He also reached the quarterfinal at Madrid but faced first round defeat at Italian Open.

Medvedev vs Hurkacz Head-to-Head: This will be the fifth meeting between both the players. So far both of them have won two games each against each other.
