Men’s Singles
Felix Auger-Aliassime vs JP Varillas – 3.45 pm
Ninth seed Felix Auger Aliassime has had a good season on clay courts this year. He played five tournaments and have reached quarterfinal stage in four tournaments. He looks to put on a good show on the season’s second Grand Slam.
He faces qualifier JP Varillas. Varillas is making his maiden appearance in a Grand Slam event this year.
Alexander Zverev vs Sebastian Ofner -5.30 PM
Second Seed Alexander Zverev will meet Sebastian Ofner in the first round of the tournament on Sunday. Zverev enters the tournament after a semi-final exit at Italian Open. He has had a good clay court season so far having finished as runner-up at Madrid Open. He also reached another semifinal at Monte Carlo Masters. This is his fifth clay court tournament this year.
Meanwhile Sebastian Ofner entered the main draw after playing the qualifiers. He won the Prague Challenger earlier this year. This is his second appearance in a main draw of a Grand Slam, having previously reached until the third round at 2017 Wimbledon. This will be the second meeting between both the players with Zverev winning their previous meeting at 2017 Wimbledon in three sets.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Juan Londero – 7.00 PM
Sixth seed Carlos Alcaraz who had a tremendous season so far is entering the French Open as a strong contender. He is coming off after recuperating from an ankle injury and is raring to go. He has won the Madrid Open title as well as the Barcelona Open title at clay this year. He has also won the Miami Open and the Acapulco title earlier this season, helping him propel into the Top 10 in the world rankings. He faces Argentina’s Juan Londero in the first round.
Londero is making his appearance in the main draw of the Grand Slam event after playing the qualifiers. His best performance this year is a semifinal appearance at Cordoba Open.
Women’s Singles
Ons Jabeur vs Magda Linette – 2.30 pm
Fouth seed Ons Jabeur has had a terrific season on clay courts. She won the Madrid Open and finished as runner-up at Italian Open and Charleston Open. She enters the French Open as a strong contender and takes on Magda Linette in the first round.
Minette enters the French Open after a quarterfinal appearance at Strasbourg. Apart from this tournament, she reached the quarterfinals at WTA 125 Saint Malo and Charleston Open. Jabeur enters the contest as the favourite.
