Take a look at Red Bull’s major upgrades ahead of F1 Hungarian GP

The Hungarian GP will feature an additional upgrade in the Red Bull F1 2023 car RB19.

The Red Bull ingenuity is all set to be extended one step further at the upcoming Hungarian GP 2023. The race at Hungaroring will feature an additional upgrade in the Milton Keynes-team machinery RB19. As it seems, Adrian Newey, the Chief Techincal Officer at the Oracle Red Bull Racing is not in a mood to put down the competitive hammer just yet.

The Hungarian GP weekend is set to take place on 21st-23rd of July at the Hungaroring circuit. Red Bull will be going into this race with an almost-unbeatable lead of 208 points over Mercedes. The Milton-Keynes team and main man Max Verstappen have dominated every nook and corner of this season so far. The Dutchman has already clinched eight victories out of the 10 races held in the season.

Moreover, the point gap is not the only parameter putting Red Bull at the top. The technological advancements that the team has done throughout the season are second to none. Right from extracting the most out of these new regulations to then capitalizing on them, the men from Milton Keynes have been far ahead of the rest. In Hungary, Red Bull is set to introduce their second major upgrade.

The new Red Bull upgrade serves speed and reliability purposes

After utter domination, the team is here with another tangible upgrade. Just when one would believe that the team has achieved the glass ceiling, they push it further higher up. The current upgrade looks like a more extreme version of the package introduced in Azerbaijan. The Hungary package essentially means Red Bull now has a full letterbox-shaped cooling inlet.

As per an analysis by Race.com, “This creates space for the side pod undercut to be more aggressive, increasing the airflow being taken around the side pods and fed towards the rear of the car. This is down to the team having to be selective with how it uses its available aerodynamic testing time given it has the smallest ATR allocation, with the additional 10% reduction on top of that as a punishment for breaching the cost cap in 2021.”

Moreover, the Red Bull official handle termed this as a reliability upgrade improving the pressure at the radiator inlets. A bit further it says that the greater pressure is for better cooling efficiency. It will be interesting to see the difference it makes in the upcoming Hungarian GP.
