Sergio Perez is under a lot of pressure for his Red Bull seat. There are rumours that he might retire from Formula 1 altogether after the 2023 Mexican GP. However, he has spoken up about his future in the sport.

Sergio Perez is having a horrible year in Formula 1 in 2023. What started with 2 wins in the first 4 races has devolved into one of his worst seasons. His Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen has utterly dominated him post-Miami. Christian Horner and Helmut Marko have openly criticized his mentality. And now there are rumours that he might retire from Formula 1 after this year’s Mexican GP. Amidst these rumours, the Mexican has finally spoken.

A Fall from Grace

Formula 1 is a very tricky sport. Sergio Perez delivered his greatest Formula 1 campaign with his back to the wall in 2020. He managed to save his future and secure a seat with Red Bull. Since then, he has helped Max Verstappen to secure his first title in Abu Dhabi 2021.

Sergio Perez then went on to play the role of a perfect wingman for Red Bull in 2022. In 2023, Red Bull produced one of the most dominant cars in the history of the sport. After the first 4 races, Sergio Perez was genuinely in title contention.

However, since then, Max Verstappen has destroyed his title chances and confidence as a driver. Max Verstappen has beaten Sergio Perez at every race since then.

Rumours of Retirement

Recently, Sergio Perez opened up about his dream of winning the Mexican GP. He said that after winning the Formula 1 title, winning the Mexican GP is his biggest goal. However, in a cruel twist of irony, rumours suggest he might announce his retirement from Formula 1 after the Mexican GP.

Sergio Perez opens up

Sergio Perez has opened up about his plans for his Formula 1 future and his future with Red Bull.

He said, “Well, right now I have a contract for next year. And it will be important to have a good year. I have the motivation to continue, and I want to stay for more years.”

“Because I believe that I still have a lot to give in Formula 1. I would like to stay in F1 for at least 3-4 more years.”
