Sebastian Vettel saddened the Formula 1 world with his retirement last season. However, many predicted the former Red Bull champion wouldn’t stay away for long. He had recently said he wouldn’t rule out racing, hinting at a comeback like Fernando Alonso. And now, he is already thinking about racing in the WEC (World Endurance Championship); potentially alongside Jenson Button and Robert Kubica.
Aiming for Sustainability
Everyone knows that Sebastian Vettel is championing sustainability in motorsport. Just like Formula 1, WEC is taking huge steps in that direction. With a less demanding schedule, it is exactly what he needs.
This foray into the WEC may also be a way for Sebastian Vettel to get back into Formula 1 in the future. Compared to Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, he still has a lot of time left in his career.
Blockbuster Teammates
The most interesting part about Sebastian Vettel potentially joining the WEC is his teammates. Porsche-powered Jota is the team in talks with the former Red Bull driver. They are also in talks with Jenson Button and Robert Kubica. The mere thought of these 3 drivers teaming us is exciting for Formula 1 fans.

“Back of my mind”
Sebastian Vettel gave an interview to Auto Motor und Sport in Japan. He said, “Nothing has been signed or decided yet”.
“But I have the matter in the back of my mind. I still have time to decide. If at some point I come to the conclusion that it doesn’t work without racing, then I will drive again.”
What did Jota Boss Sam Hignett say?
When asked about the development with Sebastian Vettel, Hignett gave us hope. He said, “We are speaking to Seb, there are discussions, but nothing is done. There isn’t any kind of contract signed and he certainly hasn’t tested one of our cars.”
“Sustainability is important to us as a team, which is why our hospitality unit at Le Mans was solar-powered. We know that is important to Seb as well.”

Sebastian Vettel has already won the Formula 1 Monaco GP for Red Bull and Ferrari. Now he has a chance to emulate Fernando Alonso and win at Le Mans as well.
