The 2023 Hungarian GP is all set to take place later this week at the exhilarating Hungaroring circuit. Since its induction in F1 in 1978, it has had a regular presence on the Formula 1 calendar, giving fans some of their fondest racing memories. This season’s race at Hungaroring is particularly a special one for multiple reasons. Most importantly, Red Bull is chasing a record at has never been achieved in the history of the sport.
Starting 21st July, the Hungarian GP is also the new testing ground for the fresh qualifying rules. Earlier, FIA was planning to introduce a new qualifying format in Imola GP, which then faced an inadvertent delay. Recently, Pirelli motorsports boss Mario Isola talked about this new pattern. Notably, is referred to as “Alternative Tyre Allocation”. This means that the teams will see an overall reduction of slicks through the weekend from 13 to 11.
Moreover, another thrilling prospect of the race is that Daniel Ricciardo is all set to make his F1 return. The Aussie will be replacing Nyck De Vries in the Alpha Tauri team. Right after the announcement last week, Ricciardo flew to Faenza to get filled in on the much important updates, and get a taste of the AT-04. He will be taking the wheel of an F1 car for the first time since Abu Dhabi in 2022.

Red Bull chasing the 12th consecutive win this season.
The 2023 F1 season so far has been thoroughly dominated by Max Verstappen and Red Bull. The Dutchman has totally decimated the opposition throughout this season. His unwavering, relentless pursuit of back-to-back wins has brought the team to a dream juncture.
As of now, the Milton Keynes team has won all 11 races held this season so far, consecutively. With this, the team has equaled McLaren’s earlier-held record for most consecutive wins as constructors since 1988. Now as we arrive in Hungary, shattering this record is well within the reach of Max Verstappen and the team. Moreover, his teammate Sergio Perez would also love to take another win home after an array of disappointing results lately.
Not just that, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is also chasing a world record at Hungary, the one for most wins at a circuit, which he collectively holds with Michael Schumacher as of yet, with 8 wins.
It would be a rather thrilling weekend to observe with everything to play for. The teams have already landed in Hungary as the race weekend is all set to kick start. The drivers will line up tomorrow for the first practice session at Hungaroring.
