The Hungarian GP 2023 is concluded with Red Bull star Max Verstappen taking to the chequered flag ahead of the rest of the grid for the 44th time in his F1 career. However, that was certainly not the ultimate highlight of the day at Hungaroring for the Milton Keynes team. With this exceptional victory, history has been made by Red Bull taking over the 1988-held record by the McLaren F1 team.
The race was an exciting one for sure, full of thrill and adrenaline-inducing action right from the start to the end. McLaren driver Lando Norris took the second step of the podium and Perez followed him in third ending his long-standing slurp. Red Bull has been sheerly dominating the scene for a year and a half. Since the 2022 regulations have come into place, no other team has been able to come anywhere close to Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s performance.
Since Abu Dhabi 2022, the team has been on a continuous streak of wins. In the 11 rounds held in the season so far, either one of the two Red Bull Rb-19s took the chequered flag on every occasion. With a win in the British GP, Christian Horner-led equaled McLaren’s earlier-held record for most consecutive wins as constructors since 1988.

Red Bull gets 11th consecutive win
Coming into the race, Red Bull drivers had the pressure and opportunity of rewriting the history in this glorious sport. A win here meant 12 consecutive ones and a record that is totally novice to F1 73 years after its inception. Max, starting second on the grid behind Lewis. He took the inside line in the first corner and made a lunge at the former rival. To no one’s surprise, he made the move stick and got into the lead on the very first lap.
Following that, the lead never left his side and he brought the car home with over half a minute of lead to his name. He crossed the line to get his 7th consecutive win, becoming only the 4th driver to ever achieve that. More importantly, he gifter Red Bull the record for most consecutive wins ever in F1.
Max Verstappen is now chasing Sebastian Vettel who holds the record for most consecutive wins as a driver, 9. As is the Dutchman’s form, nothing seems out of his reach and bounds currently. With that incredible display in Hungaroring, Red Bull has further extended their championship lead by a mammoth 229 points over Mercedes.
