Is an Indian driver moving closer to F1 dream? Kush Maini tests for Alpine

Kush Maini is currently competing in the 2024 FIA Formula 2 Championship with Invicta Racing, having previously drove for Campos Racing in 2023.

Indian motorsports fans are abuzz after 23-year-old Bengaluru racer Kush Maini got his first taste of Formula 1 machinery. Maini, a development driver for the BWT Alpine F1 Team, recently completed a test with the team and expressed his elation on social media.

A dream come true for Maini!

A dream come true to have had my first ever Formula 1 test with BWT Alpine F1 Team. Massive thank you to the entire team for this incredible opportunity. Can’t wait for the next one!” wrote Maini.

This test marks a significant step for Maini, who joins the Alpine Academy alongside promising talents like Jack Doohan and Victor Martins. The Academy has a proven track record, nurturing future stars like Zhou Guanyu, Oscar Piastri, and Olli Caldwell.

Maini’s 2024 F2 season has been impressive. Despite a qualifying penalty in Bahrain, he secured pole position in Jeddah (following a driver withdrawal) and went on to achieve a podium finish. Currently fifth in the F2 championship, Maini demonstrates his potential for a future F1 seat.
