Formula 1: The sport of Formula 1 has seen historic rivalries over decades. Fastest, relentless and strong-headed drivers from across the world battling it out on track and memories that ensued for fans to cherish forever. When talking about rivalries, the names of Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna undeniably stand at the zenith. Arguably the fiercest rivals inn the history of this esteemed sport. Two Multiple-times gave it all against each other on track. However, the tension among them peaked when they shared the McLaren seat between the year 1988-89. It stands at the top of intra-team championship battles. Another ones in the list can be Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg between 2013-2016. However, the most recent intra-team competition that the sport is witnessing is between Red Bull duo of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen. The two drivers are having a go at each other on track in an attempt to make the most out of the dominant RB19.

More recently, Antonio Perez, father of Checo remarked that the current fight between Max and his son reminds him of the legendary rivalry of Prost and Senna. Currently, Max Verstappen is leading the championship tally with 119 points and 3 wins this season so far. Meanwhile, Checo is close second with 105 points and 2 wins under his belt. Though over the last two season, the Mexican driver was seen more as a wingman to Max, this time around, its different.

Checo will win a Formula 1 championship: Antonio Perez

Sergio Perez is surely an underrated driver in the circuit. On a grid full of drivers with glitz and charisma, Perez does his job like a determined soldiers and produces result for the team. After speding over two seasons in a competitive team, he is getting the taste of regular race wins and podiums for the first time. Now, he is out there to make the most out of it.

In a recent interview reported by racingnews365, Antonio Perez opened up about his son’s title rivalry with teammate Max Verstappen and much more.

“You have to remember when McLaren had Senna and Prost. This is the same thing. Today we are living it again. You see they both try to take fastest lap from one another. In qualifying they want the pole; they want to be fastest in practice,” said Perez senior.

When asked about chances of Checo winning a championship, he had a rather optimistic take.

“[Before Red Bull], when he finished 10th, it was amazing, but if Checo had had this opportunity from the beginning as other young drivers have had, he would already be World Champion several times, I have no doubt.”

“And I believe we will have Checo Perez here for the next 10 years and I see him as World Champion,” added Antonio
