The Bahrain Grand Prix has been a great start for Red Bull, and even the seven-time world champion couldn’t stop admiring it. The driver was amazed when Max Verstappen pulled up his car past him during the race.

Eventually finishing off in fifth position, Hamilton couldn’t help but applaud Red Bull’s dominance. “I’ve definitely never seen a car so fast,” Hamilton said. “I think when we were fast, we weren’t that fast. I think it’s the fastest car I’ve seen, especially compared to the rest.”

The British driver was clearly bewildered as he didn’t even try to defend his position when Verstappen overtook him.  “I don’t know how or why, but he came past me with some serious speed. I didn’t even bother to block because it was just a massive speed difference.” Hamilton even reckoned the gap between Red Bull and others behind was greater than his peak Mercedes and Turbo Hybrid Era.

The recovery drive was critical as Verstappen slashed his way through the field, to his teammate Perez. The ultimate climb from the 15th position to the grid has almost ended any confusion about the leverage that Red Bull will enjoy this season.

Upon asking if his fans will be disappointed with Red Bull taking the stage, Hamilton said that it isn’t any of his faults and it is what it is. He also pointed towards the gap that Mercedes needs to bridge and was hopeful that they could get upgrades as soon as possible.
