Formula 1 News: Haas to fight for points? The US-based team was the first one to reveal their tri-coloured livery for their new car VF-22. They will look to recover from their disastrous last season when they ended up with zero points. Haas team only managed to score just three points in their last two seasons. Both of their 22-year old drivers had their rookie season last time around. Steiner conveyed his expectations for the duo in 2022, as he was unfazed by what could be construed by some as a lack of experience.

Steiner said, “The expectation is to fight for points and other drivers who are on the grid. With both the drivers completing their rookie season, we always knew that the expectations were not high. But both the drivers had the opportunity to learn and establish themselves in Formula 1. This year we have to prove that we are right with drivers on the track.”

Formula 1 News: What Guenther Steiner feels for the 2022 season

Fans of Haas all around the world hope that their team returns to the midfield in the grid. Also, emulate strong results of their 2018 campaign where the team picked 93 points and finished fifth.

Guenther Steiner added, “This time around what I feel is that we have good cars. For example, in 2018 and even in 16’ and 17’ for a new team we had good cars. So now I just see similarities to that time.”

The way their new Technical director Simone Resta and his team worked over the 2021 season, Steiner is confident about the upcoming season.

“That is the only thing I can judge the performance on. What I expect from the car and I’m cautiously optimistic because of how Simone and his group developed the car last year and how hard they worked on it. The results from the wind tunnel and the improvements they do each session make me cautiously optimistic.”

Steiner further added, “But to say we will be in the midfield, I don’t know for now. I have faith that we will be there but I have no clue what other teams are up to. I’m happy with what happened last year because we had two difficult seasons. What kept me going was what the group did in the 2021 season back in the design office and also in the aero group.”
