According to Ralf, Sainz is now well aware of the fact that he is playing second-fiddle in Ferrari, and this has not gone down well with the Spaniard. “The pecking order at Ferrari is already established. Carlos Sainz knows that too and is correspondingly angry,” said Schumacher.

The Monegasque driver has out-qualified partner Carlos Sainz in each of the three races up to this point in 2022. He has won two races so far and stood P2 in another, while Sainz has so far got a P2, a P3 and had to retire in his last race.

The former McLaren driver had a horrendous time in Australia, where a red flag and a starter issue saw him qualify 9th. In a bid to climb up the pack in a hurry, the 27-year-old committed an error on the second lap of the race, turning across Turn 10 and into the gravel.

“It’s only three races which have been done now. There are still 20 races left, hopefully, 19 or 20. So the championship is still very long. Our drivers are free to fight. And I am really looking forward and enjoying that they are battling for a good place, and first place, if possible,” Binotto claimed.
