F1 British GP: Aston Martin to bring upgrades to Silverstone: The team principal of Aston Martin Mike Krack has confirmed that the team will bring ‘substantial upgrades’ to the Silverstone circuit for the British Grand Prix next weekend. The team has shown great signs in the last few races and this could be helpful for them in the fight for the midfield. Follow Formula 1 Updates and British Grand Prix Live on InsideSport.IN.

Krack earlier mentioned that the team will look to bring upgrades in every race this season but this one is going to be huge as the race will take place just up the road from the factory.

“We bring steps all the time, but major ones are a bit differently [managed]. For Silverstone, we will have another substantial update. But I think most of the teams will have. So, it’s also a matter of who brings how much and how effective it will be.”

“But we’re quite confident, we made a good step. And the next step will also be good. So the target has to be to really get in front of this midfield so that you can start from the points [positions],” Krack added.

Aston Martin have currently changed the AMR22 from its unique manifestation toward the beginning of the season, with half ‘a new car’ accompanying them to Barcelona back in May. It quickly attracted correlations with the Red Bull RB18, however, the title leaders dropped their protest against Aston’s new plan.

Meanwhile, Aston Martin showed great improvement in Canada. However, that didn’t convert into qualifying as both Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll were both knocked out in the Q1 session. But, Stroll did compensate for it in his home race as he claimed a point by finished tenth overall.

Aston Martin’s better speed of late has pulled them nearer to the blocked midfield battle, and the team principal added that any functioning redesigns can sling them further up the pecking order. Meanwhile, the team will be looking to find ways to better their current car.

F1 British GP: The team principal of Aston Martin Mike Krack.

“I mean, you have to look at how tight the midfield is. You don’t need a big step to make a lot of positions. This was a little bit different in the past. You had really your positions and there was a big difference between cars.”

“If you manage to be in front of that [midfield] group, the points that you score are much more than if you lack these two or three tenths that you need for it. So, that’s also why we cannot just say ‘we look at the new [2023] car’. We have to get to the front of this group, and then it is easier to fight for points because we cannot end a year where we started it,” Krack concluded.
