F1 Belgian GP LIVE: Kimi Raikkonen’s LOSS, Lewis Hamilton’s GAIN

In 2008 Belgian GP Kimi Raikkonen had an accident where he hit the wall as it played in the hands of Lewis Hamilton. Firstly, Hamilton went off the track behind the back marker as Kimi Raikkonen overtook him while Hamilton was on the grass still managing to find his way back on the track.

Meanwhile, in the next turn itself, Raikkonen spun and gave the lead once again to Hamilton. The destruction followed later as Kimi lost control of his car and spun sideways straight into the wall having led the race for a certain amount of time.

In the 2000 Belgian GP, Michael Schumacher was defending his position as Hakkinen was mounting pressure on the German. But, Hakkinen produced a great overtake as he went from the right of the track with a backmarker in between him and Schumacher.

Meanwhile, Schumacher stayed in his racing line and on the left side of the track, and as the turn approached Hakkinen had made his move and already overtaken the seven-time F1 champion.

The 1998 Belgian GP is remembered for all the wrong reasons but the opening lap multi-car accident was next to unimaginable because of the destruction it caused.

The race once again began with treacherous conditions and zero visibility as David Coulthard spun his McLaren on the first lap itself as the destruction began after that which saw 13 cars pile up one by one. The race finished with only eight drivers taking part in it as 14 drivers retired. It is still one of the most bizarre accidents in the history of F1.

Force India secures their first POLE position

In the 2009 Belgian GP, Giancarlo Fisichella gave Force India Mercedes a moment to cherish as he took home the pole position after a scintillating flying lap. He clocked a flying lap time of 1m46.308s and on top of it, he finished that year’s race in the second spot behind Kimi Raikkonen.

Later in the post-qualifying press conference, even Fisichella described it as unbelievable as he didn’t expect this to happen in an uncompetitive car with the likes of Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes.

Sebastian Vettel hits Jenson Button

As the 2010 Belgian GP took place, it was Vettel who hit Button’s McLaren and ended his race. The brit was in front of Vettel as the German was mounting pressure on Button to overtake him and take his position.

F1 Belgian GP LIVE: Sebastian Vettel hits Jenson Button’s McLaren.

Vettel tried to overtake Button from the right side but the Brit had it covered and then Vettel tried to overtake from the left side as he lost control of his rear tyre and hit Button’s McLaren. He took out the Brit from the race and Vettel himself finished fifteenth overall.
