On Saturday, the Canadian crashed into the barriers as a result of the Aston Martin becoming unsteady.

Following a severe crash in qualifying, Lance Stroll and Aston Martin have come to an agreement that the Canadian will not compete in Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.

Lance Stroll was making a strong effort to qualify for Q2 when he abruptly oversteered after hitting the kerbs at the penultimate circuit.

The Canadian crashed into the barriers as a result of the Aston Martin becoming unsteady. Significant damage was done to the automobile, but Lance Stroll was able to exit it on his own and was later declared fit by the medical staff.

The team, however, claimed that Stroll was still experiencing the consequences of the collision and that it would be best for him to concentrate on fully recovering in time for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka next weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, hours before the Grand Prix was set to kick off, Aston Martin released a statement: “Following Lance’s crash in qualifying during the Singapore Grand Prix, Lance and Aston Martin have jointly agreed that he will not participate in the Singapore Grand Prix this evening.

“The team face a huge job repairing the car today and understandably Lance is still sore following such a high impact. Lance’s focus now shifts to fully recovering ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.”

Team Principal Mike Krack said ahead of Singapore GP 2023: “The whole team are relieved that Lance was able to step out of the car after yesterday’s accident – however, he is still feeling the after-effects of such a high-impact crash.

“Our priority now is that he makes a full and speedy recovery. Together, we have decided that he will sit out this evening’s race and instead focus fully on returning to the cockpit for next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.”
