Red Bull is having a dream season so far with 11 consecutive wins in 2023. Notably, Max Verstappen’s latest triumph at Silverstone has put the team on equal footing with McLaren for winning the most back-to-back races in a season. Max Verstappen now leads the championship with a 99-point lead over teammate Perez. Though Red Bull’s stats are through the roof, the constant failures of Sergio Perez must be getting troublesome for higher-ups.
Under said circumstances, Red Bull reserve and former driver Daniel Ricciardo is all set to take the wheel of the RB19 at Silverstone tomorrow. The car in which Max Verstappen just won the British GP will be at Ricciardo’s disposal for the Pirelli test. After being parked on the bench for the 2023 season, it will be the first occasion for Danny Ric in an F1 machinery this year.
F1 juggernaut and fans have been in a frenzy since the news broke out. Many anticipated this as a chance that the “Honey Badger” might have an F1 seat this very season. Though it sounds like a fairytale, many believed his performances in the RB19 can be the way back for the 8-time race winner. Recently, Team Honcho Christian Horner gave an important update on the same.

Horner rules out the return of Ricciardo to Red Bull
Daniel Ricciardo was a part of Red Bull from 2014 to 2018. In the post-Vettel era, he was considered the next big thing the team produced. In his 100 races for the team, Ricciardo took the chequered flag ahead of the rest of the grid on 7 occasions and finished in the top three 29 times. However, now that he has returned to the team, the scenario is as different as it could have been.
Fans have been awaiting his return in the F1 car. Additionally, consecutive failures from Checo seemed to pave the way for the Australian driver. However, Horner recently denied these fans, putting an end to speculations, and arguably causing many heart-breaks. On being asked if Ricciardo will get a full seat, the Red Bull boss had a rather straightforward answer. “It’s not something that we’re planning, that’s for certain,” said Horner.
“So it was right to give him the opportunity this year to remain within the team and keep him around the sport. I think it would have been a loss to the sport for him just to disappear and I think that I didn’t recognize the Daniel of the last couple of years so I’ll be very interested to see what kind of job he does on Tuesday,” he added.
