China and Miami to host first sprint weekend as F1 announces 2024 Sprint Calendar

Six venues have been locked in to host F1 Sprint events during the 2024 season.

Formula 1 announced the sprint calendar for the 2024 season on Tuesday. Six venues have been locked in to host F1 Sprint events during the 2024 season.

China and Miami will host the sprint weekend for the first time. Meanwhile, Austria and Brazil returning for a third year. Austin and Qatar will get a chance to host the sprint race for the second time.

Despite many drivers including 3-time World Champion Max Verstappen showing their displeasure over sprint races in past, the F1 Commission have decided to update the Sprint Format for 2024 after a positive review in November meeting.

The Sporting Advisory Committee will work through specific details and will present the final proposal to the F1 Commission for the first meeting of 2024.

2024 F1 Sprint Races Schedule:

Shanghai GP; April 19-21, 2024
Miami GP; May 3-5, 2024
Austria GP; June 28-30, 2024
United States GP; October 18-20, 2024
Brazil GP; November 1-3, 2024
Qatar GP; November 29 – December 1, 2024

“Since its creation in 2021, the Sprint has been consistent in delivering increased audiences on TV, more on track entertainment for the fans at events and increased fan engagement on social and digital platforms, and we are looking forward to the exciting events next year.”

Notably, Formula 1 has already announced its 2024 season calendar in July this year. The 2024 season will feature a record 24 races, including the return of the Chinese Grand Prix.
