The Track

The Formula 1 Austin GP is held at the picturesque Circuit of the Americas (COTA). True to its location, the track is Texas-sized. COTA gives drivers a lot of different racing lines in qualifying, and a lot of overtaking opportunities in the race.

If you look at the track layout of the Austin GP and find it vaguely familiar, it is for good reason. The turns 3-6 are modelled after the fan-favourite Maggotts & Becketts section at Silverstone. Meanwhile, Hockenheim’s famous stadium section inspired turns 12-15.

The Austin GP also has one of the widest turn 1s on the Formula 1 calendar. It has provided a lot of great moments over the years.

Sprint Weekend

For the first time in Formula 1, we will have two sprint weekends in a row. The Austin GP is already really tough in qualifying due to the various racing lines on offer. With just one practice session, drivers will find it extremely hard to get their laps right. This might just put some more pressure on Max Verstappen.

Previous Winners

There have been 10 races at the Austin GP. Lewis Hamilton has won 5 of them. It is fair to say that he loves this track. However, in the past two editions, Max Verstappen has had the wood over the 7-time Formula 1 Champion.

Weather This Weekend

The Austin GP is often very tough on the Formula 1 drivers. The heat and humidity of Texas can take a toll. Temperatures this weekend are no different.

Radars predict sunny weather on all the 3 days, with no wind on Friday or Saturday. There is a 0% chance of rain during the weekend.
