The 2026 season has the racetracks geared and the teams are weighing their engine options. Amidst all this, following Zak Brown’s visit to Red Bull’s power unit, Milton Keynes Factory, Horner confirmed the executive’s visit stating “As a power-unit manufacturer for 2026, discussions are going to be held regarding potential power-unit supply.”  Further, Horner also added “It’s only natural that we would talk to potential customers”.

Andrea Stella, on the other hand, pointed out that the working-based team are considering all available options, including a strong partnership with Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP).  Addressing the team’s future plans, during a car launch in February, Brown pointed out that the team has some time to decide their plans in 2026 and beyond.

He also said,

“It’s something that Andrea  and I are in the process of slowly reviewing. We’re not in a big rush and we are very happy with Mercedes.”

Red Bull has registered as an engine supplier under the Formula 1’s New Regulations in 2026, investing heavily in its Powertrain Divisions and Facilities. It is on the list along with Mercedes, Ferrari, Honda, Alpine and Audi. McLaren has been on the supply chain of Mercedes since 2018, but had its options open since the new rules were introduced. They are also in open talks with the Japanese manufacturers, Honda, who are speculated to return to the track in 2026.

The talks are a hope of the possible relation between the two historical rivals, after their messy divorce in 2010. They have had a history of winning championships since 1980s and the fans are all hopeful to witness the same again in 2026.
