“This year’s new regulations have created new challenges for us and being able to plan our development with the team for the next 18 months is a good working basis for the future,” Gasly added.

The news means that Gasly stays contracted to the Red Bull program yet driving for its lesser group, where he memorably won the 2020 Italian Grand Prix. AlphaTauri has assisted Gasly with reviving his career after a fleeting spell at Red Bull in 2018.

Sergio Perez recently signed a new Red Bull extension which closed off Gasly’s way back to the top group until no less than 2025. However, the French driver was viewed just like a significant piece of the driver market in the event that he could get himself liberated from his momentum ties.

In front of the Canadian Grand Prix, team principal Franz Tost said it was ‘100 percent’ certain that Gasly would stay with the group one year from now, in spite of the fact that there was no authority correspondence from the group saying so and the Frenchman had never expressly said he was staying.

Meanwhile, Tost added, “Gasly is definitely in the group of the best and most competitive drivers in F1 and has proven his abilities during all the time he has spent with us.”

Moreover, Pierre Gasly sees himself eleventh overall in the driver’s standings with just 16 points to his name. Meanwhile, he has registered two DNFs this season and his best finish came at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix where he finished fifth overall.
