However, Marinos seem like they have found their footing again in the two-week friendly games’ break. They won by a 6-4 margin against Celtic just a few days ago. However, as hard as it was for them to win against Celtic, it will be much harder to win against the mighty Manchester City. They boarded their flight to Japan two days after that. Hence, it will be too much to ask from them to provide a Champions League winning performance from them against Marinos.
However, considering the factor that they only have a fortnight before they take on a rejuvenated Arsenal side in the Emirates Cup, they have a very little time. Before that, they will spend time in Japan where they will face Yokohama F. Marinos and the German champions Bayern Munich. They will then fly out to Seoul, where they will face Atletico Madrid. To get out of the mini-slumber the players have been in the last month, these matches will serve them best before they start their 2023-24 campaign.

- Manchester City have completed a few important transfers by now. Their only new inclusion has been Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea. Additionally, Joao Cancelo has come back on loan albeit he is linked with a move away. Benjamin Mendy and captain Ilkay Gundogan have left the club. Riyad Mahrez is also linked with a move away to a Saudi club.
- Coach Guardiola has named a 25-man squad for his Asia tour which includes all the big names except Riyad Mahrez. He is staying back as he’s negotiating a deal with a Saudi club. In the meantime, new joining Kovacic could make his non-competitive debut for the club in this match. Joao Cancelo could be called upon as well.
- A major missing will be instrumental Kevin de Bruyne who is yet to recover from his hamstring injury that he sustained during the Champions League final in early June. The absence of Gundogan and De Bruyne in the team could see Guardiola give chances to youngsters, like James McAtee, Cole Palmer, and Maximo Perrone.

- Saneto and Mizunuma will also be hoping for a start in the match following their contribution in the last match. However, the coach could heavily rely on the Brazilian duo in the final third. Elber and Anderson Lopes will have to take responsibilities in the attacking front. Lopes already has 26 goals from 50 matches to his name following his return to Japan after a short stay in China.
