Wout Weghorst Contract: Premier League: Dutch striker Wout Weghorst has finally opened up about his future at Manchester United. Wout Weghorst spoke to The Times where he said, “I’m a guy who likes to play football. When your appearances are reduced, as has been the case lately, you realise what you are missing.” He made consecutive 17 appearances for Manchester United after joining them in January. However, After Martial’s recovery from injury, Weghorst has seen very limited game time and this has raised concerns for him.
He said, “If the club wants to keep me, I’ll have to know what role they have in mind for me.”
Weghorst’s role might be similar to what he is seeing in the last few games as United are on a hunt to sign a new striker. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane are their prime targets.
Talking about the permanent deal, Wegshorst said, “In those [talks] the club said they are very satisfied with me. It has absolutely not been communicated with me that Man United don’t want to continue with me. They appreciate my value. They believe I am absolutely an asset to the team.”

The 30-year-old signed for Manchester United in January after Cristiano Ronaldo’s controversial exit. He joined on loan from Burnley after a goalscoring run at Besiktas till the World Cup. He has only managed to score 2 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions since joining United, but his work has been appreciated by manager Erik Ten Hag on many occasions.
Weghorst doesn’t completely fit in United’s playing style due to his lack of goal-scoring abilities but his pressing and runs in the opponent’s half have proved to be beneficial on several occasions.
Burnely will be playing Premier League next season under Vincent Kompany and it’ll be interesting to see if they keep Weghorst in their plans or not.
