Granit Xhaka Transfer: The love-hate relationship between Arsenal and Granit Xhaka seems to be coming to an end here. There was a rough spell in between the two wherein Xhaka was stripped off captaincy and was booed by Arsenal fans. However, the relationship gradually improved, and now after 7 years, the midfielder is set to part ways with Gunners. According to reports, the 30-year-old is in advance talks with Bayer Leverkusen. The Swiss midfielder is poised to sign a four-year contract with the Bundesliga team after they reached an agreement on a deal for around £15 million, SunSport reported earlier this month.

Since moving to the Gunners from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016, Xhaka has made 295 appearances. The former Arsenal captain will depart Emirates Stadium in search of fresh opportunities. Xhaka and Xabi Alonso’s camp are close to reaching a personal understanding.

The 30-year-old’s contract with Arsenal has a year still to run, but the club has the option to extend it by an additional year. However, they do not intend to use this option; instead, they will provide him with the exit he wants.

This year, Xhaka may have enjoyed his greatest season while wearing an Arsenal jersey. He has started 34 of the 36 Premier League games for the Gunners, scoring five goals and setting up another seven.

Alonso, the Leverkusen manager, has been connected to the open Spurs position. With his team mired in the relegation zone, the Spaniard took over at BayArena in October. They have advanced to eighth in the league under his direction. In addition, they advanced to the semifinals of the Europa League.

Arsenal’s transfer targets

This might facilitate a transfer for Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby. The 23-year-old France international is valued at £50 million, and Arsenal are competing with Newcastle, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain for his services. Arsenal have also set aside £100 million for West Ham midfielder, Declan Rice. The English midfielder has been the talk of the town and Arteta would like to rope him into the Emirates Stadium.

As they prepare for a return to the Champions League, they are also keeping an eye on Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo. According to Fichajes, Arsenal and Aston Villa are two clubs who are also keeping tabs on the 23-year-old winger, Ferran Torres.

The Spanish winger joined Barcelona from Manchester City and hasn’t been quite up to standard. Barcelona is under increased financial difficulties, and the 23-year-old has not convinced them enough to stay in Xavi Hernandez’s squad for next season.
