Edwin van der Sar Health Update: Former Manchester United and Ajax star Edwin van der Sar was shifted to intensive care after suffering a brain haemorrhage on Friday. The former Dutch international was in Croatia for a holiday and was transported via a helicopter to the hospital.
“On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition, “ AFC Ajax said in a statement.
The 52-year-old recently quit his post as director at Ajax after some difficult months.

Incidentally or rather bizarrely, Edwin van der Sar also suffered a similar incident several years ago. Annemarie van Kesteren, his wife, suffered a brain haemorrhage 14 years ago. Back then, Edwin was still at Manchester United in the final years of his playing career.
