This really was a game of two halves, but Croatia made their dominance in the second period count, as they took a narrow 1-0 win.
The first half ended goalless, although Denmark had the lion’s share of the chances with eight shots on goal to Croatia’s one.
Boss Zlatko Dalić changed things up at half-time, as he brought on Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić ready for the restart of play, and it was indeed Croatia who opened the scoring on 69 minutes with a tap-in from Mario Pašalić.
There was some late drama as Denmark’s Andreas Skov Olsen latched onto a flick-on and found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
