Liverpool have taken control of their Champions League round of 16 tie with Inter after a big victory at San Siro. An open first half yielded half chances for both sides, but the score remained locked at 0-0 at the interval.
Inter dominated the early stages of the second half, forcing Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp into a drastic triple substitution on the hour mark. But it was half-time substitute Roberto Firmino who broke the deadlock when he flicked a great header in from a corner in the 75th minute.
Inter pressed for an equaliser but it was Liverpool who struck again, when Mohamed Salah’s effort beat goalkeeper Samir Handanović with the aid of a slight deflection.
