Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to start the season on a positive note after a wildly unsuccessful season last time around. The chaos on the field reached the dressing room when coach Antonio Conte was seen fuming mad at his players. They ended the season in 8th place in the Premier League table. This means that they will not be partaking in any European competition for the first time in the last 14 years. They will look to bring back the glory after such an underwhelming season with a win.
Spurs management started on their path by choosing the perfect new manager for the team this season. Chairman Daniel Levy went through several names including Arne Slot, Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann, and even former coach Mauricio Pochettino. However, as all of them decided against the position, Levy approached Postecoglou who won Celtic three trophies last season. In search of trophies after 15 trophyless seasons, Postecoglou will look to win against West Ham. Then they will face Leicester City, Lion City Sailors, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Barcelona before starting the season in August.
West Ham United had a terrible time in the Premier League last season. Their was a scare for months that they might even get relegated at the end of the season. However, thankfully, they ended the season in 14th position in the league table, only 6 points safe from the relegation zone. This was also 6 places and 20 points lower than their opponent Spurs. However, it can’t go unnoticed that made up for their underperforming form in the Europa Conference League. They lifted that trophy at the end of the season.
The Hammers are facing Spurs with two big pre-season friendly wins already in their bag. They started their friendlies campaign with a 4-1 against Boreham Wood last week. Then they flew to Australia to take on Perth Glory and won 6-2 against them. Jarrod Bowen scored a brace, while Danny Ings, Gianluca Scamacca, Divin Mubama, and Emerson Palmieri all got on the scoresheet. This may be a good record, but they have remained without a win against Spurs in their last 4 meetings.

- Spurs are travelling to Australia without their 5 injured players who are yet to recover from their respective injuries. Bryan Gil and Fraser Forster are suffering from back injuries, while Ryan Sessegnon is suffering from a hamstring issue, Troy Parrott is suffering from a groin injury, and Rodrigo Bentancur is suffering from a knee issue.
- They will also be missing club captain main goalkeeper Hugo Lloris who is linked with a move away from the club. Star player Harry Kane is also going through a similar situation during this transfer window. However, he has travelled with the team. Bayern Munich could be signing him in the end, but Kane is said to have like Postecoglou’s style. He could decide to stay for his new 4-3-3 style of play.

The other four were – Michail Antonio, Ben Johnson, Said Benrahma, and Lucas Paqueta who are yet to return to training after ending their summer commitments.
- Budding centre-back Luizao was unfortunate enough to score an own goal during their 6-2 win against Perth Glory. However, it didn’t have much impact in the big win. Hence, he could again be called up to start at the backline. Kurt Zouma could be featuring alongside the young lad.
