Spurs vs Chelsea: Blues look for way to climb higher in Premier League table

Mauricio Pochettino comes back to Tottenham Hotspur stadium with hopes of winning against table-toppers.

Spurs vs Chelsea Live: Premier League LIVE – TOT vs CHE LIVE – A homecoming for Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is in the cards on Monday evening when the Blues face Tottenham Hotspur on the road. However, he will have to keep in mind how to beat his former employers with one of the worst Premier League top club’s records. Indeed, Chelsea are in 11th place in the league table. Whereas, Spurs are the only team in the league with still an unbeaten streak. They will also retain the table-toppers position again with a win over Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to lose any matches in the Premier League this season. They have also been occupying the table-toppers position in the league table. However, with only a 2-point gap, they will lose that position for good to Manchester City if they don’t win against Chelsea this Monday. Man City have already retained the position having played one extra game. Spurs will aim to extend their 10-game unbeaten run in the domestic league to get their position back at the top of the table.

Chelsea ended last season in 12th place in the league table. They are not in a better position this season after 10 games. Nothing has been able to help the Blues recover from their traffic run of form. Additionally, current Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino is set to face his former employers who are in their best form in the longest time. The only record in their favour is that they’ve earned 7 out of a possible 9 points in their last 3 top-flight fixtures on the road.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

  • Spurs have a few injury concerns with Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic suffering from knee issues, Ryan Sessegnon nursing a hamstring injury, and Alfie Whiteman recovering from an ankle problem. Additionally Destiny Udogie also sustained a knock during their match against Fulham.
  • With Udogie out, coach Postecoglou had to call up Ben Davies in the left-back position as a replacement. However, even Davies had to be taken off in the half-time with a blow to his ankle. The coach said Davies probably will not be able to play the match, but Udogie is progressing and fighting his best to recover for the match.
  • However, if neither Davies nor Udogie is available for the match, the coach will have to go with Emerson Royal as a makeshift left-back. On the other hand, the coach will also have to make a decision for the final third. Brennan Johnson assisted Son only 2 minutes after coming on, replacing Richarlison. Hence, Johnson will be pushing for a start.

Chelsea Team News

  • Chelsea are also drowning in injury concerns of their own. Carney Chukwuemeka, Christopher Nkunku, and Wesley Fofana are suffering from knee problems, Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell are yet to recover from thigh injuries, while Romeo Lavia is nursing an ankle issue. All these players are set to miss this match and could miss a few more.
  • However, Mykhaylo Mudruk could recover before the match from the minor affliction that saw him sidelined. Coach Pochettino has also confirmed that even though Armando Broja who was recovering from a knee issue, has been training with the first team for a few days, will still only be allowed on the bench.
  • Pochettino also used cautious words talking about Reece James, who played for over an hour in their recent EFL win over Blackburn. Hence, the coach could call up Axel Disasi to play in the right-back position. In the meantime, Benoit Badiashile should retain his position in the center right beside Thiago Silva who is set to return.
