Spain vs Cyprus Live: ESP vs CYP LIVE – The bottom-dwellers of Group A, Cyprus welcome Spain for their last match of the Euro 2024 qualifiers campaign. Spain have already qualified for the Euro 2024 finals with two matches still in hand. They will face Georgia in their last match after their match against Cyprus. On the other hand, Cyprus are sitting at the bottom of the table with one of the worst defensive record in the competition. They will be looking forward to end the campaign as soon as possible.

Spain have successfully qualified to the Euro 2024 finals with 2 games still at hand. They have accumulated 15 points from a possible 18 available. After 6 matches, La Roja have the same points as 2nd-placed Scotland. They are also on level with them on the head-to-head records.

Hence, Spain are ahead at the top of the table with a greater goal difference. Luis de la Fuente should look to end the Euro 2024 qualifiers campaign holding their place at the top for a more favourable draw. Hence, they should be expected to give their all against Cyprus.

However, their best efforts will probably see Cyprus drown themselves another time in the campaign. Cyprus have become the whipping boys for all teams in the Group A with seven defeats in all seven matches so far.

They have conceded the 2nd-highest number of goals at 25 after San Marino who have conceded 26. Their attack line has let them down as well with only 2 goals scored in 7 matches. They will look to end their efforts to qualify for the Euro 2024 to no avail for 15 consecutive years.

Spain Team News

  • Cyprus have only been able to score 2 goals so far in this campaign. The last time they faced Spain, they lost by a 6-0 margin. They will now have a harder time with their Pieros Sotiriou not available for this match. The attacker is their joint third highest goalscorer with 12 goals.
  • Demetris Christofi, their veteran attacker who has scored 9 times for the country so far will be unavailable for the match as well. This puts much more pressure on the 20-year-old Loizos Loizou in the final third. The youngster only has a single goal to show from the 25 times he has appeared for Cyprus.

Cyprus Team News

  • Spain have not seen any of their players withdraw their names from the squad for international duties, unlike several other European nations this month. However, a number of players will be missing the matches due to injuries and De la Fuente’s choice of players for the matches.
  • Players like Pedri, Alejandro Balde, Aymeric Laporte, Ansu Fati, Marco Asensio, and Kepa Arrizabalaga are all set to miss the match. With these players set to miss the match, the coach has called up four uncapped players – Rodrigo Riquelme, Alex Grimaldo, Aleix Garcia, and Alex Remiro.
  • Left-back Jose Gaya is trying to recover fast from a minor issue. He has been linked with the team. However, if he isn’t able to make it to the field, Alex Grimaldo has a strong chance to take his place and make his debut for the team.
  • On the other hand, in Fati’s absence, Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal is set to showcase his talent on the international stage in the final third. Laporte’s absence could see Pau Torres who is having a great start to the season with Aston Villa, take full advantage of the situation.
