The reports further say that even Jordi Alba could be joining his former teammates in the USA.
Barcelona coach Xavi did not want one of their most important players to leave. However, they have been ordered to shave off over €200 million from their wage bill. Hence, they had to let go of both Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. When Busquets decided to leave, he had to destination in sight. Since then, the soon-to-be 35-year-old player has received several offers from Saudi clubs Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal. He also received offers from the MLS club Inter Miami where Lionel Messi moved only a few days ago.
Since it became clear near the end of the season that Leo Messi was unwilling to renew his contract with PSG, Barcelona were trying to bring back their former star. They had several issues to fix before they could bring in the player. One of their major issues was getting approval from La Liga on their viability plan. They eventually managed to get La Liga’s permission and contacted Lionel Messi. However, in the end, they could not present Leo Messi with an official offer.
In the end, feeling that this deal could be finalized near the end of the season with no guarantees that the deal will come through, Lionel Messi decided against it. Leo Messi had offers from the Saudi club Al-Hilal on a €500 million-per-year salary. His other offer was from Inter Miami which was on a €50 million salary. In the end, Messi joined Inter Miami which is co-owned by David Beckham. Reportedly, Sergio Busquets is ready to reunite with his former teammate at Inter Miami.

As per Spanish media, Busquets will soon sign a 2-year contract with the club. Within this week, the club will also announce the arrival of the player. If he joins the club, he will be joining Leo Messi and Josef Martinez and become one of their three ‘franchise players’. A franchise player in the league allows a club to spend beyond what their salary cap dictates on an infinite basis. This rule came into action when David Beckham joined LA Galaxy back in 2007.
The Spanish media has also reported that Inter Miami are targeting Jordi Alba as well. Alba, Messi, and Busquets have spent 9 seasons together at the club. Together, they have won 5 La Liga titles, 5 Copa Del Rey titles, and one Champions League trophy. Both Busquets and Alba have already received an emotional farewell from the club. However, none of them still have a lead for their next club. Hence, they could join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami if they are presented with good offers.
