Israeli footballer released from Turkish detention, set be sent home for making hostage pleas after Hamas's attack

Israeli footballer Sagiv Jehezkel has been charged and detained by Turkish Authorities for his provocative display. Jehezkel who plays for Antalyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig displayed a sign indicating the 100 Days of the Hamas attack. However, after detention, Sagiv Jehezkel has now been released from detention with his trail pending.

The defender who scored for Antalyaspor had a writing on a bandage on his wrist. It displayed the message of “100 Days 7.10” next to a Star of David.

The 100 Days goes in reference to Hamas’s attack on Israel and the hostages followed by the date, 7th October on which the incident took place. Turkey as per their geo-political and international relations is not sympathetic to Turkey and is thus charged the player for openly inciting the public to hatred and hostility.”

As per the latest update the player has been released from the detention. His club Antalyaspor has suspended the player and there are talks about a termination of his contract. On the other hand, the player is expected to return back to his country with his family.

Sagiv Jehezkel has claimed that he just wants the war to end. “I have never engaged in anything related to politics since my arrival. I have never disrespected anyone since the day I arrived. The point I wanted to draw attention to was [the need] for an end of the war,” Turkish Agency DHA reports what the player told the Police.
