Jose Mourinho has been regarded as one of the finest managers in Europe. He revealed that he got two big offers from Saudi Arabia but he refused both in order to continue managing Roma. Jose Mourinho is the current manager of Roma and in his time, Roma achieved European success.
Despite all these rumours from Saudi clubs, the Portuguese will remain in charge of Roma this season. This summer, Saudi Pro League made big headlines and attracted few big names from Europe. Two big clubs approached Mourinho for a manager’s job but he turned down the offer.

Jose Mourinho opened up on those offers from Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. He expressed that he informed the owners of the club regarding this and gave them a conviction to stay at Roma this season. He said to Corriere dello Sport, “Saudi? Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. Yes. Before going to the meeting, I informed the owners, clarifying that I had no intention of accepting. At home I said exactly the same thing.”
He also added, “On the one hand, I felt like a prisoner of the word given to the players in Budapest and to the fans after Spezia, mimicking the stay. But if you ask me if I didn’t accept just for this reason, I’d answer no, not just for this.”
Jose Mourinho revealed that he made a promise to his players in Budapest to stay for the upcoming season. He would have felt like a prisoner of words if he had given a nod to Al-Hilal or Al-Ahli. When he was asked about “the Special One”, he hinted he could change his mind in the future. He also revealed that China made him an offer in the past but he refused.
Roma boss also added, “It’s not final, no. In the past, I turned down the most incredible offer a manager has ever received when China offered me the national team and a club where all the internationals would play. An indecent economic proposal, out of this world and by all parameters.”
If we look back at Mourinho’s numbers at Roma, then it’s pretty fascinating. The Portuguese took charge of this club in 2021-22 and took them to Europa Conference League triumph. Mourinho came close to consecutive European glory when Roma reached into the Europa League final. They lost to Sevilla in the final on penalties. He will get one more chance in Europa League this season. Roma kick off their new season with a home encounter on August 20.
