Liverpool Transfers: It would be nothing shocking to say that Liverpool has not had a season to remember this time around. They were not at their best in the Premier League and got knocked out of the Cup competitions rather easily. Their midfield has been fragile all season long and that has affected their overall play as well. The Reds have been looking at bolstering their midfield and it seems as though they have fixated on two options. Alexis Mac Allister and Aurélien Tchouaméni are apparently at the top of their wish list. Follow Liverpool Football Club LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN

Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton & Hove Albion is supposedly a target for Liverpool, and the club has reportedly contacted Real Madrid about another player they want. The Reds, who had a challenging season, are looking to expand their midfield options this summer.

Bellingham, a 19-year-old from Borussia Dortmund, was their ideal choice, but as manager, Jurgen Klopp eloquently argued last month, a transfer has turned out to be too pricey. The Reds, along with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea, were later revealed to be interested in 24-year-old Argentine Mac Allister.

The World Cup champion from Argentina is expected to leave Brighton at the end of the current campaign. According to The Daily Mirror, Liverpool, Brighton, and the player’s representatives are “talking a long way down the line.”

Liverpool’s thin midfield

James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all poised to leave, so Klopp’s club is prepared to rebuild their engine room. The Reds are also favorites to sign England star Mason Mount from Chelsea, and they now seem to be in the driver’s seat in the pursuit of Mac Allister.

Mac Allister signed a four-and-a-half-year contract worth £7 million with Seagulls in 2019 after playing for Argentinos Juniors in South America. That was extended in October by a further 12 months, so he is now under contract until June 2025.

Brighton has the option of adding an extra year, so they will still be in a strong negotiating position if they decide to sell. Additionally essential to Argentina’s World Cup victory, Mac Allister assisted his nation in hoisting the trophy for the first time since 1986.

Liverpool interested in Aurélien Tchouaméni

Along with Alexis Mac Allister, there are also speculations that the Merseyside outfit is interested in Real Madrid’s midfielder, Aurélien Tchouaméni. The report states that Liverpool “have also made an enquiry” about Aurelien Tchouameni, who they failed to try and sign last summer. Real Madrid “don’t want to sell” but that could still see the Merseyside outfit make another attempt to land the former Monaco man.

Klopp acknowledged that they have not had the best season so far. He said, ‘We play a really bad season, I think everyone in this room agrees, and now we have 62 points. It is strange. There is still quality in the boys. I am really happy we could show up a little bit. Where it will end up it’s really not about that. I know everyone wants to go to Champions League, I understand that 100 per cent as that’s what I want, it is just not really likely, that is the situation we created.’
