Real Madrid vs Braga: Los Blancos determined to extend perfect winning run

Real Madrid can qualify for the knockout stages with even just a draw against Braga.

Real Madrid vs Braga Live: Champions League LIVE – RMA vs BRA LIVE – Real Madrid welcome Braga for their fourth Champions League game of this season. They have a 100% winning run in their first first and previous 3 games in the campaign. With points and head-to-head stats taken into consideration Los Blancos only need a single point to qualify into the knockout stages. Whereas, Braga are sitting in 3rd-place with only 3 points from their 3 games. Hence, they will be determined to win as well.

Real Madrid have a perfect 3-game winning run so far in the Champions League. However, all of those wins came by only 1-goal margins. They won 1-2 against Braga, 2-3 against Napoli, and 1-0 against Union Berlin. Union Berlin are at 0 points and Los Blancos have the advantage against Braga in head-to-head stats. Hence, Madrid only need 1 point from this match to progress to the knockout stages. Hence, they will be determined to get all 3 points and solidify their spot against Braga.

Similar to Madrid, all of Braga’s results have also been settled by only 1-goal margins. They started their campaigns with a 1-2 defeat to Napoli. Then Braga won 2-3 against Union Berlin with a stunning comeback from being 2 goals down. Their defeat to Napoli in the first match means even if they win and Napoli lose this round, the Archbishops still have no way to crack into the top 2 spots. However, they will still be determined to smoothen their way to the top 2 with a win.

Real Madrid Team News

  • Real Madrid have a number of injury concerns who will miss the match this midweek. Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao are still recovering from their long-term ACL injuries, Aurelien Tchouameni is out due to a foot issue, while Dani Ceballos is nursing a muscle problem. However, the most concerning news could involve their star player Jude Bellingham.
  • It was a heart-in-mouth moment for every Los Blancos fan on Sunday when their star kid Jude Bellingham was seen with his shoulder jarred. It doesn’t seem to be worrying as coach Ancelotti has assured that it’s nothing serious. However, it would not be a surprise if the coach gave his main man some rest in the midweek.
  • The coach has some good news as he’s getting back Ferland Mendy after the left-back missed their La Liga clash on the weekend. Fran Garcia might need to make way for him if the coach decides to play Mendy. The coach could even go for a changed 4-3-3 formation with Joselu, Vinicius, and Rodrygo in the front.

Braga Team News

  • Compared to Madrid, Braga seem to be a better position with absolutely no players on their injury list. Spain’s U-21 left-back Victor Gomez who was suffering from a muscular issue, came back to play 65 minutes in their last 6-1 thrashing win against Portimonense in the domestic league.
  • With noone in the medical room, coach Jorge will have an abundance of choices for all positions on the field. He could call up Joe Mendes again to man the defense if the coach doesn’t want to risk Gomez with two consecutive matches coming straight back from an injury.
  • In the meantime, Sikou Niakate could come back to the starting lineup as well to give the 39-year-old Jose Fonte some rest if the coach deems it needed. However, the biggest dilemma for the coach will be regarding his choice for the double pivot area. Rodrigo Zalazar and Vitor Carvalho will compete amongst themselves for a spot alongside usual fulcrum Al-Musrati.
