Real Madrid eyeing Alphonso Davies

Since his £113 million arrival to the Bernabeu, Bellingham has been a revelation for Real Madrid. Now, the club is looking to continue their good transfer work by attracting Canadian star, Alphonso Davies next summer.

The Bayern Munich left-back, who has been extensively linked with Real Madrid for several months, has started all nine Bundesliga matches this season. He has also chalked up three assists from defence during that period.

According to Spanish newspaper Relevo, Los Blancos are now quite sure the club will sign Davies at the end of the season. Real Madrid have been negotiating with him and his agent Nedal Househ. The player and the club are reportedly in “complete harmony” regarding the deal, which is anticipated to cost between £34 million and £44 million.

Even if Alphonso Davies is reluctant to leave, Bayern Munich is aware of his desire to move on. They wouldn’t want to take the chance of losing him to a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer of 2025 in search of a fresh challenge.

As a result, the Bavarian team is currently haggling over a price with Real Madrid. Bayern though are determined to keep one of its best players from joining a rival team.

Real Madrid do have a history of luring Bayern players on cut-price deals. They signed club legend Toni Kroos for just £22m in 2014. They also captured Austria international David Alaba on a free transfer two years ago.

Davies’ contract talks stalled at Bayern

According to Sport Bild, Alphonso Davies’ contract talks have stalled at Bayern right now. Before Hasan Salihamidi left Bayern, Davies was supposed to start contract extension talks for his current term, which ends in 2025. However, those talks have already been shelved and aren’t likely to resume anytime soon.

Real Madrid is a huge fan of Davies and feels that he should be chosen for the team’s left-back position over Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy. Although they would want to pay less, Real is prepared to spend up to €50 million to obtain Davies next summer.

According to Bild, the player’s agent Nick Househ is sounding optimistic about a probable transfer. He said, ‘Real is a big club, I’m a big fan. Real is a big name. When you hear rumours about your protégé, it makes you proud. We still have a two-year contract with Bayern. We will wait and see how everything develops in the coming weeks.
