Raphael Varane sends message to Red Devils, snubs Saudi to stay with Man United

Raphael Varane posted a picture of kissing the Man United badge on his social media account with captions to suggest he's not leaving.

Raphael Varane became the latest point of transfer rumour in the midst of a flurry of European players moving to the Saudi Premier League. Reportedly, last year’s Saudi Pro League winners Al Ittihad are heavily interested in the player. However, there were several contradictory rumours about the player’s future at Manchester United. Varane seems to have put a stop to all assumptions with a social media post with a picture where he is kissing the Man United badge. He sent out a clear message that he was not leaving the club.

Saudi Pro League has claimed many European players in this summer transfer window. From Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema to almost half of Chelsea, they have brought on over 20 European footballers. With still a week left for the transfer window to close, it seems they are not done. They are still approaching a lot more players and one of them was Raphael Varane. However, it seems they will not be successful in this venture. Varane joined Manchester United two seasons ago and is enjoying his time at the club.

Last season’s Saudi Pro League winners Al Ittihad are pursuing the 30-year-old French international. There was no solid news on his future at Manchester United. There were some rumours that said he was interested in moving to the Middle East. Whereas, some rumours said he has no intention of leaving Man United. It seems Varane stepped up and cleared up the rumours himself. On his social media account, he posted a picture where he is kissing the Man United badge on his shirt.

The caption on the picture contained a red heart with a cross made of two swords. The message is quite clear that Varane does not want to leave Man United and is happy at the Premier League club. The French international still has 2 seasons left on his contract. Hence, the rumours could gain momentum in the next transfer window when Varane only has a year left. Varane joined Man United back in 2021 from Real Madrid.

Raphael Varane suffered from injuries that prevented him giving his best at Man United. However, under coach Erik Ten Hag, the player became an important part of their defense line. Along with Lisandro Martinez, the centre-back formed a partnership that bettered Man United’s defense manifold. It was evident that Man United suffered whenever Varane got injured. Hence, Red Devils are aware of the importance of the player. Thus, the fans will surely be happy that the French international decided to stay at the club rather than moving to Saudi Arabia.

In early February this year, Varane announced that he is retiring from his international duties with France. With more rest and fewer hours on the field, there are lesser chances of injuries. Hence, Varane could improve further with the Red Devils this season. The player already helped Man United end their 6-year long trophy drought last season. Man United will also play in the Champions League this season. Hence, if Varane is in his peak form, that can help them immensely in all competitions.
