Manchester City and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez is all set to have a very busy summer. With the English season finished, it now time for International commitments. Alvarez will be a part of the Argentina squad that will take part in Copa America 2024. Following which he is likely to be selected in the Paris Olympics 2024 squad alongside Lionel Messi.
Busy Summer for Alvarez
Juliam Alvarez had a successful season in the Premier League. He along with his side Manchester City lifted the Premier League trophy. But then lost out to arch rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup finals at Wembley.
Meanwhile Alvarez is also a regular member for the Argentina squad. He played a crucial role for the Albiceleste when they lifted the crown in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
And now it is time for Lionel Messi and Co to defend the Copa America. Alvarez will again hope to be a crucial member in the team. But that’s not all, he is also likely to get a leave from the Premier League side to be one of the over aged members to be a part of Argentina’s U23 Paris Olympics squad.
Argentina in Paris Olympics 2024
Argentina U23 Boss Javier Mascherano has previously claimed that there are talks ongoing to include Lionel Messi in the Olympics squad. But then Messi would be one of the over-aged players. Olympics allow 3 over-aged players, while the rest have to be a U23 team.
Should Messi join, he will be partner Julian Alvarez upfront in the attack line for the Albiceleste. “I spoke with Leo and we have sent him an invitation to join us at the Games and we will keep on talking,” Mascherano told TyC Sports.
“He has just started the season with Inter Miami and we still have some time until the Olympic Games. We have to consider he also has the Copa América ahead this summer. It is not an easy situation,” Mascherano concluded.
