It’s official! The Kolkata Derby featuring East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan will be played on 10th March as was the previous schedule at the Salt Lake Stadium. However, the match will begin at 8:30 PM, an hour late compared to the original schedule. The hosts of the derby, East Bengal took to their social media platform to inform the fans about the latest development.

The confusion and dilemma has finally been cleared. After much ado of changing venue to changing time or postponing the match, East Bengal has confirmed that the derby will be played in Kolkata. In fact the game will be held on the very same date, i.e 10th March. The only change comes in the form of the time as the match will kick off at 8:30 PM.

InsideSport earlier reported that East Bengal faced numerous hurdles after proposing the derby kick-off time at 9 PM. However, now the official news comes from the club that the derby will be played on the stipulated date.

Why change in timings for East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan clash?

Initially the date for the Kolkata Derby was fixed on 10th March. But later, on the very day, West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee proposed to host a political rally. As a result, now the Kolkata Derby is pushed down for an hour. Instead of the normal kickoff time at 7:30 PM, the game will be played from 8:30 PM.
