England star Marcus Rashford’s injury against Malta in the 2024 EURO’s Qualifiers is concerning for Manchester United. Marcus Rashford was taken off after clashing with his teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold. It was an accidental clash between the two English players. Both of them went for the same ball and ended up clashing with each other.

The Manchester United forward was in need of help from England’s physios after the clash. He looked to be in some discomfort and was immediately taken off by Gareth Southgate. Southgate’s decision to substitute Rashford right after the clash may have stopped Marcus Rashford from further aggravating his injury.

While the injury does not seem too serious, even a small injury can put a footballer on the sidelines for weeks. This injury news will be of some concern for Manchester United. They already have a lot of players out with injuries. Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen withdrew from international duty with injuries. At the same time, the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Jonny Evans, and Casemiro are already out injured.

Manchester United will hope that this injury is not serious and that Rashford will be able to play when the Premier League returns. Marcus Rashford’s injury will dishearten the Englishman even further. Rashford has not had a good start to the season. He has struggled to find form, and an injury will only worsen things.

If Marcus Rashford is out for a while, United will look to Alejandro Garnacho to fill in for Rashford. Garnacho ended last season very strongly but has managed to get very few minutes under his belt this season. Garnacho will look to capitalize on this opportunity and make the spot on the wing his own if Rashford is deemed to have a long spell on the sidelines.

Gareth Southgate will most likely rest Rashford in England’s 2024 EURO’s Qualifiers game against North Macedonia. England has already comfortably qualified, and Southgate has no reason to risk Rashford against North Macedonia. The England manager does not think Rashford’s injury is anything serious.

“I think he’s probably OK, but we just thought given the nature of the collision it was a chance to get Cole (Palmer) into the game. I haven’t assessed too much but I think he was OK when he came off,” said Southgate.
