According to a report published on Wednesday by the French newspaper Le Parisien, the 35-year-old has an agreement with Paris St. Germain to remain with the Ligue 1 giants at least through the 2023–24 season. The announcement came shortly after Messi lifted the FIFA World Cup and won his second Golden Ball for being the tournament’s top player.
“In early December, in the midst of the World Cup, an agreement was reached (for Messi) to stay on for at least one more season,” the paper said, citing no sources.
The news has been confirmed by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The seven-times Ballon D’Or winner will meet with the PSG owner and sporting director to settle the formalities after his celebratory vacation in Argentina.
After a challenging first season, Messi has been playing his best football and his family is completely established in Paris. According to reports, PSG officials are thrilled with him and have been advocating for the extension for months.
After letting Messi go, FC Barcelona’s Joan Laporta reportedly made every effort to get him back. Although Messi has an emotional connection to the Catalan club, they currently lack the financial means needed to compete with PSG. Beyond that, he appears content in Paris and ready to battle it out again in the UEFA Champions League.
