Lionel Messi set to leave Inter Miami in 2025, set to return to his childhood club

Lionel Messi is not willing to extend his contract in the US. He wants to end his professional career in a special club.

Lionel Messi has so far enjoyed his first season at Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami. However, the World Cup winner has reportedly no plans to retire at the David Beckham-owned club. El Nacional reported that Lionel Messi has decided to leave Inter Miami in 2025.

The Argentine had left PSG and signed a new deal with MLS side, Inter Miami in the summer. Since then, he transformed his club and won the Leagues Cup.

Last year, he also completed his football career after winning the FIFA World Cup trophy for the first time as Argentina beat Frace in the final in Qatar. Now, the reports claim that Messi will be a free agent one more time in 2025 as he is not willing to extend his contract in the US. He is likely to play in the next FIFA World Cup which is scheduled to be played in US, Mexico and Canada. The Argentine is expected to retire from international football after the World Cup and he may head to South America to enjoy his final years of football career.

If everything goes to plan, Lionel Messi might be seen wearing the shirt of Newell’s Old Boys. It would be a fascinating end to his club career in front of this home crowd. Every player wants to play in their home country and Messi wants a beautiful end to his football career. Inter Miami will also play a friendly game against Newell’s Old Boys this winter in Miami.
