On Sunday, Mason Greenwood scored his first goal for Getafe, after his move from Man United. But the team was held to a 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo after going down to ten men. The 22-year-old forward’s first goal came after his contentious loan transfer from Manchester United to La Liga last month.

Getafe’s Mason Greenwood scores first goal
Borja Mayoral had put Getafe ahead just two minutes into the contest. But despite the hosts’ Iago Aspas missing a penalty before the 15th minute mark, Celta Vigo were level shortly afterward through Jonathan Bamba.
After 33 minutes, Mason Greenwood connected with a cross-box pass and sent a shot into the roof of the net to give Getafe a 2-1 lead. After 30 minutes, Portuguese defender Domingos Duarte received a second caution, reducing Getafe to ten men. However, three minutes later, Greenwood scored to restore the visitors’ lead. Three minutes before halftime, Celta Vigo’s Jorgen Strand Larsen made it 2-2.
On minute 61, Mason Greenwood was replaced by Mauro Arambarri, who entered the game in his stead. On Instagram after the game, Greenwood posted, ‘Happy to score my first goal for @GetafeCF amazing team spirit to come away from the game with a point’.
Getafe is in 11th place in LaLiga after their fourth draw in nine games, while Celta Vigo is still in the relegation zone as a result of the point. After being detained on attempted rape and assault allegations last year, Mason Greenwood is now attempting to restart his football career.

The Crown Prosecution office ultimately withdrew the charges. After the accusations were made against him, United conducted an internal inquiry. It was mutually agreed that Mason Greenwood would continue his career outside of Old Trafford, which resulted in his deadline-day loan move to Getafe.
