Declan Rice has shot to the top of Erik Ten Hag’s summer buying list after his performance against Manchester United. The midfielder has long been a favorite of the Dutchman. Ten Hag reportedly expressed amazement at his performance following Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United.
A source said, ‘Rice is fast emerging as United’s number one summer target. He completely ran the game and United’s coaching staff and scouts were all talking about him after the match.’
He continued, ‘There’s a growing belief that Rice is interested in leaving at the end of the season and United believe they simply have to ensure he heads north and not to Arsenal or Chelsea. The club regard him as a player they could potentially build a team around.’

Marcus Rashford, a teammate of Rice’s from England, was overheard asking the United attacker for the Hammers captain’s jersey as they chatted following the game. The source added, ‘Declan is good friends with Marcus and Luke Shaw from England. Man Utd believe they can persuade Rice that his future lies with them in Manchester.’
The source continued, ‘It would be a massive sign of intent and a great way for any new owners to show they are determined to try and match Manchester City in the years ahead.’
Said Benrahma’s goal gave West Ham a victory over the Red Devils, damaging the club’s prospects of finishing in the top four despite Liverpool being only one point behind them.
