Manchester United’s all three kits have been leaked online another time this year. The image of the home kit that first spread on the internet was from an Adidas store in New York. It contained a poster of Luke Shaw wearing the jersey. The most noticeable difference from last year’s home jersey was the absence of the collar. The black stripes on the shoulders to the hands still remains. However, crackled patterns can be seen in all three jerseys. It is especially visible on the field of red in the home jersey.
The Team Viewer sponsor name is extremely conspicuous in the front of the shirt. Many fans’ reactions expressed how the size of the sponsor’s name is an eyesore. Many believed that if the Qataris acquired the ownership of the club, the sponsors will change as well. However, that does not look to be the case thus far. The away kit is very different this year as it contains the striped design of white and dark green. While it is quite eye-catching, fans have still complained that it looks very similar to Newcastle United’s home jersey.
The home and away kit have garnered some variegated comments from the fans. However, it’s the third kit that is making the statement. The third kit seems to be entirely white with red border on the neck and red stripes on the shoulder. The most significant change has been the absence of the club crest on the left side of the jersey. Dropping the club crest entirely from the jersey, Adidas have designed it by including the image of the Devil in red in it’s place.

Only the third kit bears the Devil image, while both the home and away jerseys bear the club crest. This is not the first time that Adidas have chosen this move for their client club’s design. This season, they did a similar thing with Arsenal’s away jersey. In the field of black, they included just a canon in gold where the club crest should be. Juventus made the ultimate statement back in 2017 when they simplified their logo in the process. The last time Man United made a change to their badge was in 1998.
At that time, they removed the words ‘Football Club’ from their badge. While this is not a change to their badge, this still leaves a mark in their history for the future. It also bears the history of 1973 when Sir Matt Busby influenced the Devil image to be added into the logo where previously only stripes could be seen. Following the Munich Disaster, the legendary manager thought this logo and nickname could help intimidate opponents. Hence, the nickname ‘Red Devils’ took off and the symbol now sits on their jersey.
