Man United vs Nottingham Forest: Red Devils to play without new signings Mount & Hojlund

Manchester United are looking to go back to winning ways after losing 2-0 in last match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Man United vs Nottingham Forest: MUN vs NFO – Manchester United have had a shaky start to the season so far. They won their opening match against Wolves and lost the next match against Tottenham Hotspur. Their season so far is reflecting their pre-season campaign which was tumultuous as well. New signing Andre Onana has settled in as their first-choice goalkeeper. However, Mason Mount is yet to impress and is now ruled out with an injury. Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund is yet to make his debut. Man United will need to push for a win against Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United have a lot to look out for this season with Champions League night set to be back at Old Trafford. However, their form does not look promising enough for Europe’s top competition now. Pre-season results rarely reflect what’s about to come when the season begins. However, Man United seem to have become one of those rare cases. They won 4, drew 1, and lost 3 matches in the pre-season campaign. Their opening Premier League match was against Wolves at home.

The match ended in a controversial win for Man United by a narrow 1-0 margin. Their next match was their first away match of the season against Tottenham Hotspur. A lackluster Red Devils team lost the match 2-0 to Spurs. Their reliable defender Lisandro Martinez was the centre point of both goals conceded by Man United. Early in the second half, a cross from Dejan Kulusevski was deflected by Martinez towards Pape Sarr. Sarr put it in the back of the net to take the lead for Spurs.

Spurs’ lead doubled and the match was sealed when Martinez scored an own goal in 83rd minute into the game. Unexpectedly, the match ended in the favour of a Harry Kane-less Spurs team. New signing and already first-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana kept a few strikes away from the back of the net. However, Mason Mount failed to impress and pulled his hamstring in the match. He has been ruled out for around six weeks. Another new arrival Rasmus Hojlund is still uncertain as well.

Man United vs Nottingham Forest - MUN vs NFO - Manchester United will play without injured Mount and Hojlund in next Premier League match

Along with Hojlund, Mount will be joining Amad Diallo, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo, and Tom Heaton. Diallo is suffering from a knee injury, Malacia is nursing a muscle problem, Mainoo is suffering from an ankle issue, and Heaton is nursing a calf injury. The week for Man United has not gone without incidents as they let go of Mason Greenwood after much consideration. The club released an official statement saying they are letting Greenwood go after a thorough investigation of their own.

Hojlund, who is still recovering from his back problem, is training with the team. However, his debut could still be delayed. Former captain Harry Maguire could return to the starting XI after missing the loss against Spurs. In the meantime, the absence of Mount will see the return of either Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen in the central midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro. Coach Ten Hag will decide to either start Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, or Antony on the flanks.
