Manchester United were coming off an EFL Cup win over the same rivals just four days ago. However a full-strength Crystal Palace side proved too defiant for Ten Hag’s injury riddled team.

A moment of magic from a Crystal Palace defender lit up the match in the 25th minute. The Eagles flung a freekick toward the Man United box. The rebound fell to Joachim Andersen. The centre back launched a vicious side foot away from the outstretched arms of Onana.

Manchester United were wasteful to say the least, with the likes of Casemiro, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes all missing chances.

Crystal Palace threatened a few times, but Man United goalkeeper was largely unperturbed in the second half.
