Man United rush on Ryan Bertrand transfer as replacement for injured Luke Shaw

Manchester United are in early stage-talks with Ryan Bertrand's entourage for a quick move to Old Trafford.

Man United Transfer: Manchester United have a number of injured players that have become a matter of concern for them. Man United had a shaky start to the season so far. They had a controversial win in their opening match and an unexpected loss against Tottenham Hotspur in their second match. Coach Erik Ten Hag is determined to lead the team back to winning ways. Hence, he is now looking for emergency replacements. He has named the former Leicester City player Ryan Bertrand on the shortlist.

Manchester United’s current list of injured players includes Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia, Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, and Luke Shaw. At this stage, coach Erik Ten Hag is concentrating on filling the void left in the left side of his defense made by Luke Shaw’s injury. Shaw is suffering from a muscular problem that will take several weeks to recover. Their two backups were Tyrell Malacia and Brandon Williams. However, Malacia has been out with an unspecified injury since last season.

He missed the pre-season campaign and the opening matches. The coach also informed earlier this month that it will take Malacia a while to get better. Meanwhile, Williams moved to the Championship club Ipswich Town earlier this week on a loan deal. Reportedly, Ten Hag and the club’s other senior figures want Ryan Bertrand as a replacement for the injured Shaw. However, the transfer window closes next week on September 1. Hence, they will need to work quickly if they are determined to bring him to Old Trafford.

Emergency Man United Transfer shortlist includes ex Leicester City player Ryan Bertrand to replace injured Manchester United player Luke Shaw

That’s why Bertrand’s name has been included in the emergency transfer shortlist. Apparently, Man United already opened talks with the player’s entourage. However, everything is still at an early stage. If completed, it will certainly be a surprise free transfer for Man United. Bertrand left Leicester City and is currently a free agent. The same goes for Jonny Evans who left the club this summer. Man United are also thinking of presenting Evans with a 1-year contract. Hence, Bertrand could reunite with old teammate Evans at Man United.

Bertrand grew up through Chelsea’s academy and became a part of their first team. He then spent 10 years with them and even started for them in their 2012 Champions League win against Bayern Munich. He has been plagued with injuries since his time at Southampton ended in 2021. The defender also has 19 senior caps for England.
