Made in Carrington: Garnacho & Mainoo scores as Manchester United thump City to win FA Cup

Despite owning the possession by 74%, Manchester City made a couple of errors, which led Manchester United to their 13th FA Cup title

Manchester United fans are in dreamland after their beloved Red Devils secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over rivals Manchester City in the 2024 FA Cup final!

Red Devils ends their season on a high, thrashes Manchester rivals

The Erik Ten Hag side started strong, capitalizing on an early error by City defender Gvardiol. Alejandro Garnacho pounced on a loose header, firing the ball into an empty net to put United ahead. United doubled their lead later in the first half thanks to a clever reversed pass from Bruno Fernandes. The young midfielder, Kobbie Mainoo, received the ball and slotted it coolly into the bottom corner.

Manchester City dominated possession after the break, but struggled to break through a resolute United defense. It wasn’t until the introduction of substitute winger, Folarin Doku, that City found a spark. Doku caused problems for the United backline and managed to pull a goal back with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box.

Despite a late surge from City, who created several chances, Erik ten Hag’s men held firm to secure a dramatic victory. United thoroughly deserved the win, ending their season with a trophy and a positive outlook for the future. This win also may save Ten Hag for the job, who has now won two trophies for United.
